Gratitude ! I have heaps of it for all of YOU !

For me this year has been one of the most challenging in the 55 years I have been on the planet.
It has also been one of the most rewarding, exciting, and a fantastic opportunity for me to get on with realizing my dreams. Maybe it's about having to dig deep into my soul, to ignite my passion for my purpose for being on the planet.
Being the last day of 2009 I would like to acknowledge all of you who have given money to my everydayhero site. Thank You! I would also like to thank my personal sponsors who have given to me.

How to inspire yourself !

Last night I watched a short DVD that I have seen before and wanted to re-connect with the spirit of these 2 wonderful men.
Dick & Rick Hoyt. WOW !! What an inspiration they are for me. I have seen them live on stage in the USA and in fact, I remember at the time they gave me a giant kick in the Butt to get on with following my dreams.
I will not spoil the experience for you, look on youtube or go to their website and read their story and have the tissues ready here it is http://www.teamhoyt.com/ then come back to me and give me feedback.
Did you feel inspired by these 2 men?
So today I was up at 5.45am, walked the dogs in the park, and had some pleasure watching them play together as they are so much in the moment. If you have not observed that in animals before, check it out and learn from them as I do.
Breakfast and a beautiful coastal walk watching the surfers glide below as we tackled the cliffs and had some more pleasure enjoying the sea. On the way, we saw a Koala hanging out in a tree that was not a gum which got me thinking. Also, 3 Goanna's trying to escape some children, who were very curious about these creatures. A swim in the surf. When 2 naked men walked by, it made me do a double-take... Then a long black in a beautiful cafe where I could watch the passing traffic. Now I have come home from a session in the gym. So there you are that's what inspiration will do for you.

How do you inspire yourself?

Step Up, Step Out, be counted for something !!

8km again this morning.Had a bit of a challenge with, the heat just when I thought I was getting use to it.
Lots of people out walking and enjoying the early morning. Today I saw about 100 cyclists coming towards me, what an awesome sight that was, as they whooshed past me on the other side of the road.
The colours of their gear and helmets made me smile, they looked so good. I felt inspired by their energy.
It is so important to be well hydrated in an environment such as we have up here. Sometimes when you feel like a drink you are already dehydrated. I for one, keep drinking all day, just so I don't get to that point.
I have not heard back from "Today Tonight" which is a little disappointing. Did any of you see the program they ran about Rebecca ? Makes me shudder just thinking about her, her husband and the new baby they are bringing into the world.
We have to keep putting our hand up to be counted I must keep pushing for "The Forgotten People" I must, I must. Step Up, Step Out and scream louder !
What do you believe in ? What gets you going everyday ? What difference can you make ? This is such a good time of the year to be thinking about these things especially as so many make New Years resolutions and then in a few weeks they are gone.. Make this coming year, and your Goals count for something.

As always continue to BE GREAT ! SMILE !

I'm adjusting to the Humidity of Queensland..

Just about to go out the door at 4.50am and down came the summer rain.. After all, it is the rainy season here so it is a good thing to have the gardens all watered.
8km this morning and I think I am getting better at running in the humidity. Today's run was better, even though the steam was rising off the road. There were a few people out walking and running which was really lovely to see.
This morning I have had a massage as the Christmas Day cricket was not very kind to my shoulder.
I did quite a bit of bowling and my shoulder was screaming out last night for help.
As I enjoy the warmth of being in Queensland I am very aware of my friends in the USA who are experiencing the cold, and I think that the contrast is fantastic for us to learn what it is that we like.
How is your pleasure meter this holiday? I hope that you are looking for every opportunity to create some pleasure for yourself, family, and friends. In fact lets take it a bit further. What are you like at receiving ?
I have noticed this Christmas what a difference it is to give and receive.  How different it is for us all. Some seem to prefer to give rather than receive. What about you what do you find easier ?
I challenge you all to notice the difference between the two..
Just for a while try focusing on Pleasure..

www.everydayhero.com.au/mary_scott_2

Up early again today. Not running today. It was to go to the Farmers market and get the very best of fresh produce. You should have seen the Mangoes. Beautiful. $16 for a whole tray of them, very hard to refuse.
Very hot by the time I got home so into that pool again and that was a real treat and it certainly freshened me up real quick.
It is very exciting for me to see so many of you coming to my Fund Raiser on the 5th. I think it is going to be an awesome evening with loads of fun.. it is something you will not want to miss!
I have started collecting magazines so I can do my next treasure map for 2010, and writing down my goals. Soon as the new year begins I will have my chart completed.
What about you? Are you ready to get clear about what you are doing with your life?
My main focus is going to be about raising my one million dollars and I will not stop until I get it. You can be part of this as well if you would like. Come and do the Uluru Marathon on the 31st July 2010 and be part of my fundraising team. Go on I dare you to put your hand up!!

All the flowers of all the tomorrows are in the seeds of Today... Think about that.

17 Weeks to go to My Dream Run of The Boston Marathon

5am start again today.  I was very pleased to be running as the frogs drove me crazy all night long.
In the end, I could not wait to be up and out there.  The last 2 runs I have left my iPod at home so I could listen to the sounds of nature around me. This morning was very entertaining with the frogs still very happy, bush turkeys running around madly, and the rainbow Lorikeets sitting in the Palm trees singing a good morning song. I did, however, see a couple of very dead cane toads on the road. I even saw some people sitting in their back yard, on the outdoor chairs. It looked to me as though they had been there all night. The music was still on, although very low.
To think all this happened before 6am maybe amazing to some of you.
I ran my 5km, came home, fell into the pool, and did a few laps while the rain poured down. In fact, it hammered down on me. I'm sitting here in front of my laptop. The rain has stopped. Everything is very quiet. The frogs have stopped all their talking!
What a wonderful time to reflect, and to consider what I am grateful for. What about you how are you feeling? Did you have the Christmas Day that you wanted or did you run around pleasing everyone else? I'm always amazed how so many miss the Essence of what could be a very restful day by racing around visiting people.

Make today count, BE Great !

Happy Christmas Everyone !!!

What a wonderful way to spend Christmas Day.
Off to the beach first thing, and the dogs had fun! Out to lunch at a restaurant on a boat in the river at Noosaville. Spent lunchtime looking out to the water while we enjoyed a beautiful lunch rocking in the water.
This afternoon we have played cricket with the neighbours, and now would you believe it is tea time. Katherine was a real star with the bat !!
I hope that today you have had an opportunity to make someone happy, especially someone that you don't know.
Did any of you see last night "Today Tonight"? The story of Rebecca, a 32 yr old, and too young to be an Alzheimer's sufferer. This just made me mad, and I wrote to Today tonight so people would know about our Fund Raising site. As yet I have not heard from them. Lets hope that they give me a go!
I hope that you are thinking about your goals for next year as this is the time to be getting clear about how you are going to spend your time in 2010.

Be focused, be clear, and then work forward to your dream. It is that simple.
BE GREAT! Be sure to make a difference where ever you find yourself this Christmas...

Rise early its a great way to start your day...

5am start this morning. So good to be up and running until, you guessed it, down came the rain.
Then it was very humid and made me work harder on the road. I did enjoy listening to the parrots screeching in the trees. Wonderful to see the Rainbow Lorikeets as they are so beautiful.
I had a treat phone call last night from a friend in New Zealand called Ann. She rang to say Hello.
Ann was a neighbor of mine when I was 5years old, and growing up in a small country town in the South Island of New Zealand. She told me nothing had changed in the street where we use to live.
I started to think about change, and how some times it is very challenging, and yet that change can be the very thing that makes us stronger and better equipped to take on new adventures. For me, this time of the year is a time to reflect on the year that was. What can I take from it and what can I leave behind as we enter a brand New Year. I start to think of my goals for the coming year, I am a great believer in Mind Maps, treasure Maps whatever you would call them. For me, it helps give form to my goals, and its so powerful to see them on the wall. I always have them written on my phone as well so they are on my person most of the time and in a quiet moment I read them. It supports me to stay focused.

What's your purpose for being here on the planet? What will you choose to do with your life ??
Make a choice now to do what's deep in your heart...
When you are in your flow and in your power Magic Happens. Be Great !!!

My Fund Raiser Friday 5th February 2010

I arrived home at 1.30am this morning. Lovely to be home however I wanted so much just to put my head on the pillow. I'm not used to late nights I can tell you. Thank goodness for my ipod, as the plane was 45min late leaving Melbourne so I was able to tune into my music.
February 5th, 2010 7pm. This is the date and the evening to keep free so you can join us for a wonderful evening of beautiful food and wine. It is going to be a Churrasco (Brazilian Flame Grill) night $45 per head and that includes a glass of wine. We will be having a few raffles on the night and these prizes you will want to win! We have already pre-sold 30 tickets so you need to get your tables organized. Get your group together, collect the money, and ring me with your numbers. All money needs to be in by 29th January. The Venue is the wonderful "Brandy Creek Winery". If you want to know what a Churrasco is, check out their website at http://www.brandycreekwines.com.au/ There you will be able to see how they cook the exquisite food you are going to eat. I am grateful for the generosity of Rick Stockdale and Marie McDonald. All money raised on the night will of course go to "The Forgotten People".
Carers of Alzheimer's donations will be done through my everyday Hero site. Spread the word folks as we make fundraising for Alzheimer's a sexy thing !!

Continue to Smile. You do not know what a difference that can make in someone's life..
Just do it !

Make a Choice to be full hearted this Christmas !!

No more sleeps to go! Tonight I am off home to the heat in Queensland for 3 weeks, and it is very exciting!
Karen, my Boot Camp Buddy, ran with me this morning and we did 5km. It was good to have someone to chat with and enjoy the fresh morning air.
I was a little bit tender this morning, as late yesterday afternoon I had two teeth out and I was a bit shaky in the evening. However, by this morning I felt ok to do the 5km required to stay with my program.
I am very excited about my Fund Raiser on the 5th of Feb as we have already pre-sold 30 tickets thanks to some good friends getting their texting spirit in full flight.
Once I get home I will give you all the details so you can contact friends to make up a table and all come together for what is going to be a fantastic event.
Enjoy the last few days before Christmas and remember to dig deep for Alzheimer's !!

 Keep Smiling!

www.everydayhero.com.au/mary_scott_2 Dig deep for Christmas

I started the day at my usual time of 5.30am, and down to my favorite gym for a personal training session, this time with Jess. It's a good thing to have different trainers as it really works me hard in very different ways! I didn't do any boxing though, and I am already having withdrawals from it. What am I going to be like after 3 weeks away in the sun with no boxing!
A week ago I was interviewed by Danielle from http://www.australianwomenonline.com/  and today you can see me on their web site and a great article that she wrote to support my Big Fund Raising.
Thanks to her and Australianwomenonline for their support!
I'm a bit rushed this morning so will have to tell you tomorrow more about our event on Feb 5th, 2010 at Brandy Creek Wines starting at 7pm.

BE GREAT! & BELIEVE IN YOURSELF and you watch what happens around you....
1 more sleep before I go home ... Yipeeee

Keep February 5th Free 7pm for Fund Raiser !!

What a perfect morning it was for running. A little bit on the cold side at 5.30am, however, I soon warmed up with 20km under my belt. I have some exciting news about my 2 Labradors from last week's big adventure in the rain. Today I was running my last kilometer and there they were, behind the fence.
I stuck my head over and said hello to them and they were very excited and jumped up at the fence and licked me. Then would you believe a few hours later I met the owner of them both! You can meet her on 5th Feb.
My other exciting news is that I'm going to have a big Fund Raiser on Friday the 5th of February at 7pm at Brandy Creek Wines in Drouin. Make sure, if you live near Warragul, that you keep that evening free.
In my blog tomorrow I will give more details of how you can book as there will be limited seating.
I'm very thrilled to have Rick and Marie from Brandy Creek Wines as one of my Sponsors. More info to come.
Now you have 2 things to think about The Outback Marathon & the Big Fund Raiser. I will let you know when you need to move into Action mode for both !!!

Be Fantastic at whatever you do today!

18 Weeks to Go to the Run Of My Dreams !!!

I have just been looking at the Australian Outback Marathon web page! You guys just have to come with me on that journey. Go on, be daring. Put your hand up now and be counted!
I'm hoping that a few of my old Kiwi friends will join in with some of my USA friends and come to Uluru.
20km tomorrow folks. Let's hope that my new-found dog friends stay at home for this run as I will need to run with some real purpose. I think it is going to be a little bit on the cold side so that will make for a good run.
Today I have been visiting my new friends Annie and George at their shop at 532 Camberwell Rd.
"It's Only Natural".They were hard at it with Christmas only days away. George is so helpful with his advice. Go and check it out for yourself.
Also, check out the January "Runner's World" magazine. It's jam-packed with great info regarding Marathons. Go and read it and then come join me in Uluru. They have a list of all the Marathons around the World that we could go to together and make a difference. Hey, Trevor and Sue from NZ come & join us.

Continue to BE Great!

On the 31st of July 2010 at Uluru, there is going to be Australia's first-ever Adventure Marathon.
My plan is to have a team of 50 people (including me) running in that Marathon (at your own pace) all of us will be raising funds for "The Forgotten People" It does not matter who you are, where you come from, how old you are if you have never run before... I invite you to stand up and be Counted for a very worthy cause! You can come from any country in the world to participate, we will welcome you with open arms to our Team. I can guide you to getting yourself a good training program. We will also have a support team and Jean Bromley will be co-ordinating that group. So that means anyone can attend. The only criteria is that you are willing, able, and want to help me to raise the Flag very high for Alzheimer's and get that money coming into my everyday hero site.
This morning while running I had my first sensational woman step up to the Challenge. Sarah (Boot Camp Buddy) is the very first person to put her hand up. What about you? If not You who do you know. Lets start networking Folks and make this ROCK! Raise your hand and contact me NOW!

Always know why you are getting out of bed everyday !

Good morning, and thanks for all your good wishes after my big Boot Camp Win yesterday. I'm still very thrilled and excited about my Boot Camp effort.
A few of you have asked how I keep going, so I thought I would give you some helpful tips.
Take what you want and throw the rest away.
I always have 120 mls of my GoChi juice every day. Usually 60ls in my water bottle (1 liter)
The days I am exercising I have my shot of Chi3 Energy 60mls before I go out the door.
The top two are from Freelife International and you can buy them from me if you want a high-class product.
I always have Endura in my water bottles when I'm running or working out.
I drink at least 2 to 3 liters of water every day.
I wear the right gear when working out. I love 2XU products they protect your body!
I have at least one Protein drink per day. If I have fruit I almost always have protein with it.
I have one protein bar per day.
Have a Goal, stay laser-focused. Every day, know why you are putting your feet on the floor to get going after a good night's sleep. Rise early so you can have some quiet time, its good for your soul...

Last thing SMILE and always appeal to the good in everyone you meet.

OMG! I won the Boot Camp Challenge !

I am completely over the moon this morning, in fact, I am a bit shaky as I write this.
This morning at our final Boot Camp get together I was declared the winner of the $3000.
I'm so excited and did not expect it. I had the tears flowing I can tell you.
What an awesome group of people. Such support for each other, and I believe that is what made this group really ROCK!
Not to mention Jodie the Trainer "Guru" woman. Thanks, Jodie for having the vision of the 12 weeks.
I'm thrilled it went so well for all of us. Her two helpers Damian & Sharon thank you to both of you !!
In 55 years I have never won anything like this so I feel touched to my core.
I'm a bit lost for words so I will finish this blog and see if I can get my head around a day's work in the office.

BE the BEST you can be today. I know you can do anything you put your heart and soul into.
SMILE!

A Fact Sheet from Alzheimer's Australia Vic

A fantastic morning for running so I really enjoyed my 10km. I do like being out early with the farm animals and fresh air.
This morning I wanted to share with you some facts...
There are currently around 257,000 people with dementia in Australia...and more than 1 million Australians caring for them.  Makes my goal of 1 million very small don't you think?
That is One Dollar per carer which I think is pathetic !!!! Let me go on. Dementia is now the leading single cause of disability in older Australians (aged 65 years or older)
By mid-century, we will have 1.13 million Australians with Dementia.
Dementia is the fourth most common cause of death after Heart disease, stroke, and lung cancer.
Let me ask you then why would people not be giving donations to Alzheimer's in the droves?
I don't get it! Is it the FEAR factor? Let's move through that together let's make giving to Alzheimer's a Sexy thing to do. Let's make it as sexy as giving to the Children's Hospital appeal.

"If it is to be it is up to me." Take that on as if it is your own!
Let's get moving Folks. The rest is up to you. Yes, I mean YOU!

The Dogs are home to their owners !

A few of you rang me about the dogs, and I'm pleased to say they are safe and back at home with their owners. They were back home yesterday so they did not have to spend the night at the Vets. Plus their owners donated to my Fund Raiser which was a real win-win all round don't you think!
I didn't go to the Spinning class this morning. Instead, I managed to get a Personal Training session with Jodie the Boot Camp Guru so I was very thrilled with that. I was up and out of the house early as I walked to her studio which took me about 15mins. We did my most favorite thing which was boxing and she worked my butt off.
The other thing I wanted to share with you today is about Brooks, who make fantastic runners.
I will not wear anything else. I approached them about sponsorship, and they have sent me some tops, a cap, a pair of sox, shorts, capri pants, and a discount off a pair of shoes. Thank You to the Brooks Team at Tullamarine. They stepped up and have taken me seriously which is fantastic!
I see we are over the $2000 mark so it is forward ho from here.

What can you do today to make a difference to someone else's world?
Its the little things that count you know. SMILE and keep people guessing.

Another run in the rain this morning...

Up and at it by 5.30am and would you believe the rain was my friend again. 17km in the rain will only make me stronger! Also this morning I had a bit of a challenge with 2 beautiful Labradors. One golden, a female and a shiny black male They met me on the road and then I spent quite a few kilometres keeping them off the road and safe. Then I came across a farmhouse so I locked them in their front yard and when I was on my way back there they were waiting by the side of the road. They were so happy to see me again, jumping up and crying, so off we went in the rain together with me talking to them to keep them off the road. As it was Sunday there were not many cars on the road thank goodness. I have dropped them off to a very nice Vet here who will take care of them until tomorrow when he can ring the council and contact the owners. I felt a bit sad about leaving them. Once they got to the vet, they had lots of water and some porridge to sustain them for a few hours. In between all of this, I had time for a warm bath and a hearty breakfast.
I heard last night at the Christmas party for Superfit gym that I had lost something like 59cm and 7.5kilo over the 12 weeks of the Boot Camp so that is very exciting. We were measured and weighed on Friday, however, I did not know the results until last night. So the bottom line is that Boot Camps work if you are wanting to be serious about your fitness. Look around in your area for one to participate in the New Year. Of course, if you are in Warragul then Superfit and Jodie is the way to go !!

BE GREAT! AND SMILE

18 Weeks to go to My Dream Run of The Boston Marathon

I am a bit late today writing my Blog and would you believe I had 2 phone calls to see if all was well as my blog was not up by midday today!
I'm here to tell you folks I am very much alive and well and nothing is going to stop me now...
Today I would like to acknowledge my good friend Marilyn. She has been my friend for more than 30 years and today is her birthday! I had breakfast with her this morning and congratulations to her as she is attending the gym now 3 and 4 days per week, and feeling much better for putting herself out there.
She tells me she is completely hooked on the gym and I say Good on YOU!
Its a bit like that when you start to work out, the feeling gets in your blood and you just cannot give it up.
I think in some instances it's the starting that is hard. So if this is you all you need do is start and then add a little bit of courage and you are off and running.
Tomorrow I will be up and out early 5.30 ish for a 17km run and I'm already excited about that.

Keep Moving & Keep Smiling and all will be well in your world...

Last Day of Boot Camp....

The rain is pouring down again this morning. I just hope that it is falling in the right places, especially the people who have tank water to survive on.
Boot Camp this morning. What a sad day it is for all of us. I don't think it will really hit me today how I will miss this wonderful group of inspirational people. Maybe Monday morning when I wake at 5.30am I will get it then! I think Monday morning I will go to a Spinning class at 6am. The thing with spinning is you have to be there early to get a spot and there is not as much interaction with the other participants as with Boot Camp. I find it all a bit amusing really as a new person coming into the group and finding a bike to use and then someone says "That's Kath's spot" It's a harder group to break into... The bottom line for me is I am there for the purpose of getting fitter, and I always keep that in mind when I find it a bit daunting to join a new group.

What about you? Have you stepped out and stepped up this week? Go for what you want, what I have learned is that if you do that, all things flow for you and you have more energy to give to others.
You can never pour from an empty jug! Think about that?

An Evening with Gippsland Women in Business

Last night I had my first Fund Raiser evening with the "Gippsland Women in Business" and what a great night it was. They Raised $700 for Carers of Alzheimer's. Unfortunately, it will not be all reflected on my Everyday Hero site (some of it was cheques) however it will all go to Alzheimer's Australia.
Sometime during the day today, you will be able to look at my Fund Raising site and see it there. If you are unsure where to go it is. www.everydayhero.com.au/mary_scott_2   Its a fantastic site as you can donate as little as $25 dollars and upward, and they issue you with a tax receipt straight away.
There is always something very special about a gathering of women sharing their stories with each other and supporting each other in business which is what this group of women are about. I thank them all for their very generous hearts and their welcoming spirit!
If you would like to know more about becoming a member of this group just send me an e-mail and I will send you the contact information.

Let's all get out there and make every moment of every day count.
Keep smiling and keep shining your light to all you come in contact with today.

I am a Beep Test Apprentice .....

What a morning! I woke up at my usual time and my nose was cold. Not a good sign because that means it is cold outside. Damn as today we had our beep test again and I still do not get the hang of it. Like everything I guess practice is everything. I feel like I need to belong to a beep test club and learn how to keep up with the beeps...  Who knows what would help me to master it a bit more. Another 10 kilos off might make all the difference I will have to keep you posted with that one. The other part of the beep test I really enjoyed was watching how the group got behind one another and encouraged those participating right to the end. Daniel was the last to complete his test and it was exciting to watch him really go for it. Then it was into the Push-Ups for a minute and sit-ups for a minute. Not sure how I did with that as I could not remember what my numbers were for the first day of the Boot Camp 12 weeks ago.  All of this is such learning for me as I have not participated in a group like this before.
However the theme for me today is being Grateful for my everyday learnings.

Have you started your Gratitude journal? Why don't you give it a go its amazing once you start writing down all the things you are grateful for. Be all that you can be today!

A Good 8km run in the Summer rain

You guessed it, more rain.
I awoke at 5.30 to hear the rain on the roof and what a beautiful sound it is don't you think!
Up I get and have my Chi3energy pull on my compressions and my sleeveless waterproof top.
iPod on and off I go, happy as a lark!
I was thinking this morning on my run about how powerful groups are, and what a difference a group with a common goal, a common focus, can make in the world. In fact, what is required is laser focus and together we can make a huge difference. I have a challenge for you all, however, I want to give my Boot Camp friends the opportunity to participate in the group challenge then I will share it with all of you in the universe to come on board as well. This challenge is awsome, fun, worthwhile, and will leave an impression on you for the rest of your life. The other thing is it will not matter if you live in New Zealand, the USA or Australia, you will want to participate as it's very exciting what is going to happen.
Before you ask the question, yes it will stretch you, that I will promise. However, you will not be alone in the challenge as there are going to be at least 50 of us participating... Stay Tuned !!

Finally some words from Gandhi "Be the change you want to see in the world" The rest is up to you.

Last week of Boot Camp...

What a fantastic Boot Camp this morning! Beautiful morning to be out in the fresh air working hard and loving it! Once again the group is working together so well! My friends' the steps were in the workout this morning up and down! It is such a great activity to bring my heart rate up, and the other thing I like it for is the focus. At all times when going up and down, you need to keep your focus on exactly what you are doing.

I hope that today is a wonderful day for all of you and remember
"What other people think of you is none of your business".
Get out and get into action focusing on something you love to do.

19 Weeks to go to My Dream Run in the Boston Marathon

I'm a bit late writing to you all today, however, I am here alive and rearing to go!
My 15km run this morning was a real inspiration to me. It was quiet, cool, no cars on the road plenty of good thinking time.
In a few weeks, I am going to give you all a challenge as I know you love challenges. It's a challenge that you need to have before you start writing your goals for 2010. Stay tuned!
Then on the way back, the sun was on my back & my eagles' wings were under my arms and lifting me forward and I felt like I could have run and run. It was one of those wonderful moments when I feel like I could have done anything. I guess that is true in some ways. Whatever I put my mind to I can do it. What about you how are you going with your dreams? Keep hold of them no matter what and forge forward as I can tell you that dreams do come true.

Drink in the summer days and make the most of every minute of every day!
This is my last week of Boot Camp so it's a big week coming up. HOLD you Heads High everyone ...

Sow enough seeds the harvest will come !!

It's my rest day today with regard to my training program. However, there are so many more people to talk to about my fundraising project!
This morning I went to visit John my new Hairdresser friend and he has a couple of ideas of companies for me to talk to which is great. It would be so easy to fall into a big hole because of a lack of response from people that I have contacted. However, what I have learned over the years is that if it is the right time for people to step up and take some action and put their commitment to a Huge Fundraiser like mine they will. Life is all about timing and if I ask enough people to tell my story and the story of "The Forgotten People" Alzheimer's Carers, it will soon resonate with the right person or persons. I believe I must not falter in my purpose, keep my focus and I must keep sowing the seeds and the harvest will come even if the birds get some of the seeds.

Do GREAT things today... Onward and Upward together we will succeed.

We are working like a well oiled machine this morning !!

We were outside this morning and it was quite fresh, and refreshing to be training in the good air!
Running between cones and getting down and getting dirty on the wet grass, fantastic stuff. What really impressed me was everyone in the team just got on with it even though we were all getting wet.
There was loads of encouragement and some giggles in between. We are working together like a
a well-oiled machine at the moment and that is a groovy thing...
I went to a boxing class last night and my partner was another kiwi woman and boy did we have fun!
I don't know, there is just something about us kiwis, although I must confess I'm still no good at the combinations even though I know that it is good to do them.
It's getting close to 19 weeks to Boston and I still have not found a major partner to support me raising the one million dollars. Put your thinking caps on people as I'm not going to give up on this one.

STEP UP & STEP OUT and have a go today! Don't wait any longer.........

10 km this morning and what a perfect morning for it ..

Beautiful morning. A little bit of fog early, a tremendous day for running on purpose!
This morning I awoke at 4am ready to go. Truly I think had it been light I would have got up and run.
My run this morning was mostly on the road, with the cows and their babies as my cheer squad.
They are so funny. They stay right up against the fence line until I can eyeball them and they all run off together. Such a beautiful sight with the sun coming up behind them as a backdrop.
In 19 more sleeps, I will be back home for a few weeks in the sun and burning heat of the day.
I'm sure I will be up at 4am to do my running and I will be very grateful for the swimming pool to come home to. Running in all these different conditions will only make me stronger, of that I'm sure.
What are you up to today? Done all your Christmas shopping? Why not consider giving to Carers of Alzheimer's. Their job is 24/7 you know, with very little support as I have told you before so think about it.

Amaze yourself today. Go out and extend your comfort zone, then the magic really happens as you just can't stop smiling as the true beauty of who you are unfolds......

Boot Camp Days are running out boohoo..

A little bit cold this morning at 5.30am. Strange for December don't you think!
The boxing was full-on today. Thank goodness my boxing partner Louise can count. When you have to do 100 of something it's important, believe me, to know when to change and run like hell!
We only have 4 mornings left of our 12-week course which I find sad! The group is so inspiring to work out with and I love the fact that we all look out for each other in every session. I would love to keep on with this 3 days a week Boot Camp forever... I'm laughing at myself now because forever is a word a child would use when he/she never wants an event to end.
You know it is 19 weeks and so many days to go to Boston and I'm getting more excited than ever if that is possible. I noticed last Sunday when I did the 15km Great Australian Run that I was nervous at the start. I was looking around at the other people standing with me. I'm always amazed at how different each of our bodies is and the different capabilities of us all.

Still, some times the only thing that is out there stopping us is our mind. Think about that.
What could you do, if you put your mind to it? Let me know, I'd love to hear from you!

What a beautiful morning to be up & active !

This morning I was a little bit later than usual with my run and was excited to see quite a few runners out especially on the track. I always have a bit of a giggle when I am passing someone on the track or on the footway running towards each other. There is a real thing that goes on between us.
Eye contact may happen, a smile or being completely outrageous "Good Morning" Then there are a few of the runners usually, women, who pretend I'm not even there. Let's face it, it is a bit hard to miss me.
I have a bit of fun with this every day I'm out running, some times when they are looking away I say a big Good Morning! They look back at me as if to say "Are you talking to me?" Then there are the people with dogs that make me laugh even more. The dogs are so excited to see me they want to come right up to me, and then at the last minute, their owners pull them back from me... Anyway, these are the things that go on in my head while I'm out doing my thing. Laughing & listening to my iPod helps me to be in the moment and enjoy the experience even when I'm feeling the pain some days!

Be sure to Smile today and keep everyone guessing as to what you are up to...

Checkout todays Melbourne Paper

Hi just a quick note to let you know today in the Melbourne paper "The Herald Sun" on page 67 they ran an article with a photo of me.
My only regret was that they did not have the Fund Raising site so here it is to pass on.
www.everydayhero.com.au/mary_scott_2

Remember Make what you do count for something!

Be open to GREAT things coming your way today

Rain again overnight, so we were inside for our Boot Camp. My regular boxing partner was away today so I had another one. It's good to partner with different people, as my experience is that you have to be there for each person in a different way. Having a new person made me think about how can I be there for this person because believe me when you are boxing, you need your partner to be present!
I'm surprised how rested I feel after my big day yesterday. I do miss not having a running buddy to come to these events with me as they are such a great way to check my time and have a yarn afterward.
Also yesterday I was able to see parts of Melbourne in the city area, that I have not seen before which was fantastic! I did laugh to myself when we were running right in the middle of the city and there were loads of people standing on the footpath just looking at us and not saying a word. Just looking at us with their mouths open. Maybe we are such an awesome sight they can't think what to say !!

That's enough from me this morning BE GREAT!
Keep thinking and believing about how are you such a fantastic person.

The Great Australian Run Very well organised !!

I've just arrived home after my 15km run this morning, The Great Australian Run.
It was good to participate in a run that was so well organized. There was fruit available, bottled water, jelly babies, and some other bars. Also a very nice medal for round my neck which was a treat as I had forgotten about that.
At the 5km mark when the heavens opened and showered us all with hard rain, especially when it was on my face, it was a bit challenging. The marshalls were in very high spirits and clapping and calling out and being very encouraging. We had the rain, the wind, and then the steamy hot weather at the end.
Nothing like a bit of variety to keep me on the ball.
I felt very strong and am very grateful for my body and my strength. My hip gave me a challenge around the 13km mark, however, I overcame that one. I think the Boot Camp has made me a much stronger person all round which is very pleasing!
The other thing that was good about the run and the organizing was the great quality T/ Shirt. Royal blue with white writing. Thank you to everyone who participated today. One more thing, I didn't see Kathy Freeman. I did hear her name called out as we were lining up at the start so she was there.

Hope that your weekend was fantastic.
Make the most of each and every minute.

20 Weeks to go to Boston.. Whooo !!

Good morning! Today is a rest day, well if you could call it that. I'm running around talking to people about my Fund Raising challenge. Then tomorrow is the Great Australian run 15km can you believe the weather forecast for the morning is rain! One thing about it, I will become a good wet weather runner.
As I said I'm a bit rushed this morning however my big priority is always my blog as you never know who will read it and be inspired enough to go to my everyday hero site and donate to the "Forgotten Group" Carers of Alzheimer's.
My sister rang me from Auckland this morning and is doing great creative work, as I understand painting beautiful pots for Christmas.
My question for you is what are you good at? How can you make a difference?
Really think about it. There will be something that you are currently doing or have always dreamt of doing that you could start Right now.
Then of course comes the question of am I worthy enough?
Well, this certainly is a deep & meaningful blog this morning.

I guess the rest is up to you as your Attitude always determines your altitude..think about it

Nearly 20 weeks to go !!! Boston here I come ...

The rain has been visiting us again so the gardens are looking ever so grateful for the tenderness the rain brings to them.
What can I say about Boot Camp this morning? Boxing inside the gym, which was a great opportunity to get a very good sweat up!  Then outside for some running and sprinting. Well, I do try to sprint however I'm not sure that is exactly what happens.
This reminds me of a story of when I was running my Rotorua Marathon in May this year. I was at about the 32km mark, and heading towards a water station when a lovely young boy said to me "Water for a Walker". I looked at this young guy and said to him, "listen here. I may look like I'm walking however I'm running" The look on his face was priceless, it was good. It gave me something to giggle about for a little while down the road. When you are on the road like I was for 6 hrs, it is good to have a giggle.
The other person who made me giggle that day was my sister who would pull up in her little yellow car alongside where I was running, jump out with her sign and flap it and yell "Go my sister". By the way, the sign also read "Go My Sister" She is such a full-hearted woman my sister !!

So that's the theme for today "Be Full Hearted in everything you do today "

Spread the Word "I'm running to Boston for Alzheimers Carers"

At 5.30 am I was already awake and then I heard the rain. Would you believe it! Just when my runners had dried out! Still, that is the joy of an adventure!
These days every day is an adventure if that is what you choose.
I really went out of my comfort zone last evening. I came back to work after I had my dinner ( as we do not have the internet where I am staying ). I wrote an e-mail to Oprah, yes that Oprah! She is such a strong woman and has done so much for women being out there I thought she would enjoy my story. I was writing quite a bit of detail and when I went to send the message there was a message back at me saying I can only submit 2000 words! What a bummer. I sat there and cut paragraphs out until it would accept my message, so we will see what happens.
Going back to my run this morning, I only got rained on once during my 8km.
Despite the rain, it was a beautiful morning to be out and active.

Get out and get active! You will be surprised how great you will feel!

BE BOLD BE YOURSELF !! Honour yourself & Smile

Here I am full on this morning as usual! Some times I wonder how I fit all the things in that I do in one day. Still, it keeps me out of trouble. This morning our Boot Camp trainer Jodie said we have 7 sessions left of this 12-week program. I do feel a bit sad about finishing as I am having such a good time.
We did some boxing again this morning. I think I am a little better, just don't ask me to do more than 3 or 4 different things at once because I get myself in a bit of a mess. I'm sure the boxing would help with right and left brain communication when you have to do so many different combinations.
I'm starting to get excited about my Great Australian Run on Sunday, especially since Kathy Freeman will be running. I wonder how she feels about the 15km.
My new runners will be here in time thank goodness, I'm so grateful for my wonderful feet and how they hold me up for all my adventures.
I'm making a point of writing to someone different every day regarding my fundraising, so if any of you have someone you think I could write to,to ask for support with raising the $1m, please drop me an e-mail.

BE BOLD! BE YOURSELF.. See where you can make a difference today.
 As always, keep SMILING

8km run this morning and all is Well !

This morning was quite a shock weather-wise. I went out in short sleeves for my run and I was not going to go back! I soon warmed up believe me. Then a dog jumped out at me as I was running along one of my tracks by the creek. I'm not sure who got the biggest shock, him or me!
I had a question this morning from one of my New Zealand followers about my everyday hero site.
Yes, you can donate to that site from anywhere in the world through Paypal. By the way, the first 24hrs the site was up and running we raised $1125 well done all of you and a big thank you from the Carers!
Some people that I have told I'm raising One Million dollars for Carers of Alzheimer's have just rolled their eyes at me. You know that look the "you have got to be joking" look.
Let me share with you that many years ago I learned that you don't need to know the how you just have to keep focusing on the goal. The process will take care of itself. You watch. If you are one of those people who roll their eyes at my idea, step into the process and spread the word, and before you know it we will be at our target.. As my mother used to say "Mark my words my girl", very different context back then.

BE GREAT! Be all that you can BE today

Monday, November 23, 2009

Woohoo !! Overnight while I slept we raised $125

So exciting to go to my Everyday Hero site to see that my partner and my brother have kicked started the fundraising !! Good on YOU!
Yes! You know what I'm going to say. Up and out of bed at 5.30am.
It's so good to be alive and so well to start the new day. Although I have to say, my poor old runners are still recovering in the laundry, still trying to dry out after the 10km run in the rain yesterday.
As I do not have my new runners yet, I had to drag the old pair out from the back of the wardrobe this morning. I'm hoping my new runners arrive before my Great Australian 15km run next Sunday the 29th of November. My feet are so important to me I put cream on them every morning and I love good sox as well, then of course after that there are very good runners.
You know what really impresses me about the running events I take part in? The people. They are all different ages of, children, young adults, older people, people walking, people running, women, men. I love it. It does not matter who you are or where you come from there is always room for you at a running event! Then there are the Marshalls who make sure we stay on the track. There they were yesterday, standing in the pouring rain! I take my hat off to you all. Thanks. Yes, and as you can see from my photos I do wear a hat!

Be adventurous today. Push that little bit further.
Continue to stretch yourself and feel your growth!
SMILE...

To Donate www.everydayhero.com.au/mary_scott_2

Finally, it is set up ! Above is my site where you can donate to Carers of Alzheimer's. Go on and have a look and tell me what you think. You will be given tax receipts. I'm so excited so let the games begin!
Who will start the ball rolling? Will it be you or someone you share my site with.
Let me tell you about the 10km Olympic Dream run yesterday. Melbourne showed it's true colors today with the weather rain, rain, and even more rain. I think there were 2000 people registered. I'm sorry to say the rain kept some of them away. We were all at the starting line ready to go and yes you guessed it, the heavens opened and down came the rain and it poured for the entire race. I was laughing about this because 2 weeks ago we were in the blistering heat in Marysville. Do you remember?
I had fun as there were plenty of puddles to run in and my runners did well to stand up to the intenseness of the rain. I can't make up my mind what I enjoy most, the rain or the heat. I guess for me it is "who cares as long as I am out there training"
Gosh, I have so much to tell you and so little space.
Yesterday I went to visit my new friends George and his wife Annie, in their shop which is 532 Riversdale Road Camberwell. They were generous with their time and the spirit of their giving tells me I'm blessed ! Go and visit them and enjoy the difference they are wanting to make. The shop is called "It's only natural"

How are you blessed today? Who have you made a difference for?
As for me, I'm blessed with wonderful friends... the rest is up to you...

21 Weeks to Go to my running the Boston Marathon !

With 21 weeks to go, I think I am more excited than ever about running the Boston Marathon. The thing that really is getting me fired up is all of you and, how you are out there taking some action in your own lives.
An example of this is, that 2 good friends of mine have been inspired to join a gym and are now going 3 or 4 days a week. They are starting to feel the benefits of being more active and that is such a fantastic feeling as they are young things like me (Hehe!) As they become older it's so good to feel good and strong!
As Jean always says "Its good to feel Good" and she says that is all we have to work on is to feel good and everything else will follow. I believe this as well.
You know, I feel good 98% of the time the other 2% is when I am moving myself into the feel-good state.. I believe it takes less energy to feel good than it does to be down and miserable.
Attitude is something you always have control of ...think about that...
Today I am out and about talking to a couple of people about my fundraising and seeing who else will come on board with this Big adventure. Tomorrow is the 10km Olympic Dream run Good luck to you if you are taking part.

Remember to keep SMILING...

Woohoo !! First interview yesterday ....

After playing hockey for the entire Boot Camp this morning, I am fully revved up and well and truly able to take on the world !!
The Good news is that yesterday I had my first interview for the magazine "That's Life" How cool is that! Things are really starting to warm up now with regard to the Fund Raising aspect... The Carers are looking good for One Million Dollars coming their way! I sent the photo of me in my Compression gear, which was a bit of a risk really with my bulges and all. The look should be interesting. I will let you know which issue I will be in.
Brooks, you know the people that make fantastic runners, are on board with me as well so I will let you know what the go is there. I'm so thrilled that these people are willing to take a risk with me. I am a bit biased about my Brooks because I have such flat feet and their shoes give me heaps of support which is what a girl needs for such a big adventure like a Marathon.
This weekend a few of us a doing the 10km run on Sunday in Melbourne the run is called "The Olympic Dream" I believe that Cathy Freeman is running so that will be a treat if I get to see her.

Remember "If it is to be it is up to me" That means you! If you want something, just go for it !!!

Thursday, November 19, 2009

10km this morning with a very warm humid wind on my face on the way out to my halfway point of 5km, and the sun shining through on the way back. The warm wind certainly made me sweat, however, I just tuned into my music and all was well!
Gosh! I've forgotten to tell you I have soooo much happening in the area of fundraising. Last night I could hardly sleep. I was and still am very excited! I have some interest from Newspapers, and a couple of TV shows, so I am very confident now that my goal of 1 million dollars for Cares of Alzheimer's will be met!
Thanks also for your continued support I sure do appreciate your e-mails and feedback to me about this blog.
On Sunday the 29th of November, I am going to run the Great Australian Run which is a 15km run in Melbourne. This will be an opportunity for any of you who want to support my cause, to raise money. I will have my fundraising site set up by then, so I will let you know what you need to do, as a few people have been asking me.

In the meantime, as my sister said to me on my birthday card
"May the sun shine on your back and the Eagles wings carry you toward your dream"
That means YOUR DREAMS ! Go for it !!

Exquisite morning for getting Fit !

It was a gorgeous day today, and at 6am, it was exquisite for training. Our group was in high spirits, cheering each other on to do the best we can do!
Boxing first up after the warm-up, and that was good stuff. Boxing like crazy and then running intervals.
It was fantastic! Then out on the grass running between cones and doing all sorts of things to get my heart rate up. We all worked very hard, and it was exciting to work so cohesively together.
Today I can really feel summer is on the way. Blue skies, beautiful days and all is well!
In the next couple of days, I will have my fundraising site up and running as I have my instructions on how to do that from Shannan from Alzheimer's Australia. I'm not all that good with the computer so let's see how I go with it. I will give you the address so you can help me spread the word!
What can you do today to extend yourself? Be daring. Get out of your Comfort Zone and watch the magic happen.

By the way, the MAGIC follows after the fear.. and you know what fear stands for
"False Evidence Appearing Real" think about that!

New Runners coming my way Wahoo...

Remember I told you that a pair of my runners had worn out? I forgot to tell you what I do is alternate my runners so I can get the most out of them. Just in case you have started running, I think it's a good idea to do this. Would you believe a good friend wants to buy me a new pair to replace the pair that gave up the ghost!
My sister sent me some money today to help with my airfare to Boston !!! WOW, Do you not think that I am feeling very grateful! You bet I am..
Yesterday I had the privilege of being a guest at a Dementia Carers support group. The support they get as carers is sooooo bad. If they are lucky they might get 13 hours support and up to 25 hours a week. Let me ask you how many hours total there are in a week. Answer is168 hours. How would you cope with this? Being there for the person you love 24/7. Yesterday I did not hear one complaint! I felt very humble just being with these people. With this uppermost in my mind, this morning I dived out of bed ready to take on my 8km run at 5.30am. Training for the Boston Marathon is easy compared with being a full-time Carer !! All of us just need to get out there and spread the word !!
Radiate your light, or should I say turn on the laser beam for Carers...

SMILE, there is a lot of light in that!

Week 9 of Boot Camp

I was a bit stiff today at the start of Boot Camp. I can't imagine why. Still, once I was warmed up I was able to proceed at full steam!
I have just had to throw another pair of running shoes away which is a bit sad as I am really knocking them around at the moment. We had boxing first thing this morning, outside on the hockey pitch which I still love just as much as when we first started the Boot Camp. I don't think I will ever give it up!
I think if I was a bit younger I would consider getting right into and doing some real stuff in the ring.
After the boxing, it was into the gym and onto the machines which we had not done for a while so I was doing quite a bit of grunting! There was a great feeling within our group this morning and quite a bit of laughing and generally enjoying the experience of early morning training. Today another group started a 5 day a week Boot Camp so it was a busy little place.
I now have 3.5 weeks of this Boot Camp to go so I need to take myself up another notch with my fitness I think! I will have to reflect on just what that will mean for me... I had some big goals before I started so I will review them.

Clear your head, clear the space for wonderful new adventures to come into your life...
ROCK & ROLL!

15km with cows and calves & the early morning !!

I had a late night with some good friends last night and didn't get home until 11.20pm, so I thought I might have had a challenge this morning however I was firing. Up ready to go at 5.45am.
Sunday is always my long run day and today was a perfect morning to run 15km. I went out into the country with the cows and their newborn calves. It was awesome to feel the new day and there was almost no around this morning. I had already mapped my run yesterday on the internet so just had to get going and do it. After a little while of being out there, I put my iPod on and enjoyed some great music to push me along.
I forgot to tell you about the 2 hours boxing class on Friday night! It was very fantastic although I did have several moments of "how the heck am I going to get my whole body to work together to do the movements required to punch with some power". I was thinking about that this morning while running, and I think I would have to do at least an hour of boxing every day to be any good.
The challenge at the moment is how do I fit it all in? My Marathon Training must always be my priority...
Last night out with my friends, I had a good fix of laughing myself silly.
When did you laugh yourself silly?

So that is your project for today go and find someone to LAUGH with. It's good for your soul!

22 Weeks to go to my Dream of Running the Boston Marathon

What a treat to sleep in until 6.30am!
One thing about creating good habits is that even on a rest day, I want to get out and exercise. That is such a wonderful feeling and makes the experience an easy one. I just get up and get at it!
This morning I went to a new hairdresser. His name is John and would you believe he use to be a boxer, and I mean in the ring !! You guessed it. After my hair was cut and I  looked gorgeous, there we were in the middle of his salon, boxing! What a crack up! You had to be there I guess. It was great fun.. he said after doing that with me he will get back into doing some exercise, so I will call in to see him next week to see if he was for real...
Today is full-on. I'm about to get in the car and go and talk to some people in a health shop to see if they will sponsor me. In fact, it was their suggestion, so I will keep you posted as to what happens. Its a bit hard to go past the state of the art products I'm using at the moment as I don't think I would be running if I had not been drinking my Gochi & Himalayan Goji Juice before that. I'm grateful for the day Freelife International came into my life and I have Jean to thank for that.
Tomorrow is 15km so I better get on and map it so I'm fully prepared when my alarm goes off.

BE GREAT with whatever you do !!

Fantastic Day to be out there making dreams come true !

I had a great birthday yesterday and thanks for your good wishes!
At work, they had a big cream sponge with passion fruit icing on top!
"Mother of Pearl" what does a girl do? Yes, I had a small portion with a  cup of black tea.
When 5.30pm came, I went to another boxing class to work off the sponge and I loved it as usual, even on a hot evening.
This morning it was a great day to be outside on the green grass with a group of enthusiastic Boot Camp people. Would you believe only up and down the dreaded steps once, gee we were lucky don't you think!
There are about 30 steps to go up and down it is so good for my training!
Tonight there is a training night at the boxing gym for 2 hours to help with our techniques, so I'm off there and in between, I will do some work.

Be Great today no matter what you are doing  and remember
"What other people think of you is none of your business" ENJOY !!

I'm 55 today and going stronger than ever !!

Yes that's right, 5.30am out of bed and the day has begun!
The magpies were really beautiful this morning, singing sweetly through my bedroom window. I could not help but get out there and join them.
Today is my Birthday.
I'm 55 today and I'm healthy and fit with so much more to pack into my life. Marathons to run, money to raise, visit parts of the world I have not been to yet like Africa..
I went to my favorite coffee shop this morning and told them it was my birthday and yes I did get a long black on the house. Don't tell my trainer Michelle about the coffee as yes, she would prefer that I did not indulge in such things! However 1 a day is not too bad, is it?
As I get closer to my Marathon day I will stop the coffee, I guess about 2 months before, as I want to get the most out of this wonderful body of mine.
This morning when I was running my 8 km the streets seemed to be full of people out walking, running, and enjoying the beautiful morning. I wonder where they were in the cold winter months?
This time of the year is very inviting, isn't it?
If you have not started exercising, today is the day to start!

Keep smiling, it makes people wonder what you are up to!

I had a good lesson today about Fuel !!

Another beautiful morning to have Boot Camp outside !!
I ran out of fuel this morning which was very tough and a good thing to learn. We were doing a circuit outside which was fantastic and my mind wanted to do more but my body was saying nooo...
I have been cutting down my carbs so I can drop some more weight... however there is a very fine line as I am working out 6 days a week so I have to get smarter with this... Thank goodness I had my Gochi in my water as I felt it kick in when I had nothing left. I did not get to my water until after we had finished the circuit. In thinking about it I could have just gone and had a drink while we were still going round and round. The thing is, I don't like to stop !! Taking a drink allowed me to do the boxing at the end with a bit more get up and go !!
I love to learn new things so all is good !!

Smile at someone today and look into their eyes as you do it and see the difference you can make..
How easy that is to do.. ENJOY!

I am grateful for sooo many things today

I am grateful for so much today. Early morning sunshine, ducks and their babies, my partner, my good friends around the world, a strong body... gosh I could go on and on... what about you what are you grateful for ??
5km today and yes I did my tree thing... run hard to that tree ease off to the next one..
What a day to wake up to. The magpies calling me, the trees sparkling, and at 5.40am I was thrilled to be alive and well.
I had a reply yesterday from  Kerri-Anne the morning show...I mean a phone call however they have asked me to call back in March with my story !! What a pain I was hoping someone would pick it up and run with the Fundraising bit for Carers of Alzheimer's.. still I have many more people to reach out to yet!

Whatever you do today make it count !!

Do you love running up & down stairs ?

Today at Boot Camp it was up and down the stairs !!! It was a beautiful morning so we were outside..
I was in the group that did the stairs, so up and down and in between, we did 10 push-ups and then 10 squats. It made me work hard. Then it was boxing which I still love... Have you tried it yet ??
I'm feeling strong today. Especially pleased to feel this good after the run in the heat yesterday.
Today I had poached eggs and 1 piece of toast with my usual coconut oil on it and honey.. beautiful !!
If you have not done any research into coconut oil please do you, will be very glad you did. I put it on my body, cook with it, and use it instead of butter on toast... let me know what you think.
I hope to have some more news in the next couple of days about my Alzheimer's fundraising for the carers. Did I tell you I want to raise 1 million dollars so I hope you will all get behind me...

Have a fantastic Day and Be the best YOU can be !!
You never know who you will be making a difference for by being YOU...

23 Weeks to the Boston Marathon !!

Up and out of bed today at 5.15am. It was a glorious morning, so good to be alive and well !!
Left around 6am to go to Marysville as I thought for some reason the 10km started at 9am.. silly me it started at 11am... although because so many extra people turned up on the day to run, it held up the start so, in fact, we started at 11.25 ish.
When we arrived at Marysville this morning I was shocked to see the devastation with nothing much left after the Feb 7 fires... The theme for today's run, "United We Run" was perfect. It was wonderful to see people getting behind the town to support the rebuilding.

We stood waiting to start with the sun beating down on us which was not good !! I was well hydrated with my Gochi and Chi3 thank goodness and I had two bottles of electrolyte replacement on my belt.
Yesterday I made a point of drinking at least 3 litres of water so I could face the heat of today.
The run was challenging in the heat and there seemed to be one hill after the other. Through the naked bush, you could see what was ahead. At one point I heard a collective groan as we turned a corner to see yet another climb. Once at the top alongside Stevensons Falls (which I did not recognize as the same place I had visited before) I had a drink of water and poured another cup of water over my head and on my face. Coming down the hill and reaching the 7km mark I felt so very strong, which delighted me on this very hot day.
Maybe the Boot Camp work is paying off !! It was good to see my 2 other friends coming up the hill and doing so well in the conditions and we cheered each other on and that always brings a smile to others running with us.
My heart went out to the Half Marathon, Marathon, and Ultra Marathon people today in the heat.
I think next year it would be a good idea to start the runs early! Good work if you were one of those people. You are an inspiration to me !!
I finished the run and had a massage from an old friend Kay and that was excellent!
I must go home to bed as tomorrow is week 7 for Boot Camp...

Stay tuned

So Many things to do and sooo little time !!

I'm a bit later this morning, as it is Saturday morning here in Gippsland and what a beautiful day it is... I'm sooo excited to see my followers are from USA, New Zealand, and Australia. Thanks for your continued encouragement !!
A rest day today however there is no resting. I had a meeting yesterday with Alzheimer's Australia (Vic) branch so I will have some more news about how we are going to fundraise for them next week.
Tomorrow I'm off to Maryville with some friends to run the 10km fun run to raise money for the Marysville rebuilding after the Fires that destroyed the town. I'm really looking forward to it as I know how powerful it is when a group gets together with a common vision such as the people of Marysville.
Today I will spend some time doing stretches & drinking lots of water as tomorrow is going to be hot at Marysville and it doesn't matter how far you run you must always be hydrated. This is a time when I love the Freelife products as the Chi3Energy and the GoChi will help with tomorrow's conditions.
My fundraising goal with the Carers of Alzheimer's is one million dollars!
I have spent a few hours during the night thinking I need a big sponsor here, don't I !!!
Who do you know that might help ???

Talk to you when I get back from Marysville tomorrow until then get out & get active !!

Boot Camp - not for the faint hearted !

5.30 woke up with a cold nose which usually means cold morning. Who cares? I'm excited to be up to face the adventures of every new day !!
Went to boxing last night and teamed up with someone (male) much better than me and from the very start, I had to work like mad to keep up. Always good to team up with someone with more skills as it really is good to make me stronger... When I came home my hands were tingling for ages afterward, that's good I think.
Doing the combination work seems to be really turning my left & right brain on to work better...
If you have not boxed find somewhere and give it a go. When you really connect with your partner's pads there is a particular sound that is awesome to hear. Imagine that... when there 20 of you doing the same exercise.
So, this mornings' Boot Camp was full-on with loads of boxing which I just love. I was certainly looking above for more support and courage !! The feeling in the team is really good with lots of support for each other which makes a difference and soon we will be onto week 7 !!
Remember to be the best you can be.
There is only one of you and you bring yourself to everything you do.

What you bring is special and different.. think about that!

Its a beautiful spring morning here in Gippsland

It's amazing to think about how excited I am to get up and do my training when my alarm goes off at 5.30am.  Today was 5km and it was a beautiful morning. The sun was streaming through the green spring trees, I just love it. I'm working on going faster and at nearly 55yrs that is sometimes challenging. Today I decided to turn up my iPod so I couldn't hear the noises I make.
It's a bit like a very loud groa....n if you understand, and I think its best not to hear that and just get on with pushing myself! So, run hard to that tree then once I get there I straight away pick another tree and then so it goes on... Today I had my compression top on as well as my pants and let me tell you that shows every little lump and bump or should I say bulge in my body. Still, someone once told me "What other people think of me is none of my business" When I have the full set on its almost like running naked !! However, I feel great and I know that it holds my body firm as I am really pushing it at the moment. One day I will tell you about my very first experience of trying on Compression wear in a small change room and having a hot flush midstream very funny !!!
Chi3Energy and Gochi propel my day, and tonight I'm going to a boxing class just to keep me honest and to get that middle bit of bulge off my body.

Whatever you do today make it good !!!

Awesome Boot Camp this morning !!

5.30 am up and ready to go on another exciting adventure on my way to Boston ..
Chi3Energy & GoChi down the hatch... cold again this morning so boot camp was inside the gym.
Full-on sprints up and down the gym. Every second lap 10 push-ups or jumping lunges or squats !! No time to think. The pressure is on the last 6 weeks now. I was groaning!!! However, all is well as we finished with boxing and I love that !!
I am so excited about my adventure, sometimes I just can't sleep..
Thanks to all my Freelife family around the world. I'm thrilled to have your support!
So if you have a dream be sure to stay focused and it will come to you.
The only thing that will stop you is your mind !!

Make the most of this day and be sure to smell the roses.

Wet windy & 7km this morning

Here I am all set to go at 5.45am. I get out the door with my compression pants and short sleeve top on and down comes the rain...back inside long sleeve top on and my waterproof jacket with the sleeves out of it!
My usual practice of drinking my shot of Chi3Energy and 60mls of GoChi before leaving really helps my 54 yr old body get out there and get going !!
Today as I run in the rain I think of all the things I am grateful for. The first thing that comes to mind is my friends at Kinglake West who survived the Black Sunday fires. Hope that they get some of this rain to fill their tanks as they continue to live in their portable homes. They are rebuilding their lives with such strength !!
7km this morning and I feel such joy at being able to get out and enjoy the beauty that surrounds me. Thanks also to the followers of my blog especially my family and some very old friends from New Zealand. Thanks for your encouragement with my adventure !!! Of course to Jean who set this up for me so I could get on with the story.

My Purpose for running the Boston Marathon is two-fold.
Firstly to realize a life long dream, and secondly to raise funds for Carers of people with Alzheimer's.. stay tuned. Soon you will be able to open your hearts and be able to give your support and $$ to those wonderful people.

Today is a day to do great things. Go out there and be GREAT !!

Boot Camp... modified today

A beautiful morning this morning, with the sun bursting through the morning fog and some clouds !
I walked to the boot camp today, as we were having a body balance class instead of our usual full-on exercise.
Long weekend here in Victoria for some... not so many turned up for the 6am start.
Great class plenty of stretching good work for the core and that's what I need to run Boston. I need to get strong where ever I can.
Walked home with the sun on my face and I am grateful for such beauty around me as Spring really is full-on here. I just have to remember to drink it in every minute of every day!
Thought I would share with you what I had for breakfast this morning.
I read about this in the Runners World magazine which is such an inspirational mag. You should get it if you are not already reading it.
Here it is... fresh raspberries, fresh blueberries ( I added prunes ), cottage cheese, which is a great protein to start the day, and the berries are fantastic! Try it to see if you like it. Good Stuff !!

Make the most of your day! Make every minute count before the day disappears... See you tomorrow.

10km today in the fog of the early morning...

Its 5.40am Sunday. The alarm goes off and I'm up & out of bed, ready to train for Boston.
Today is a 10km run which I have already mapped out, so I know exactly where I'm going.
I've got my compression pants on, my City to Surf hat, and City To Surf singlet on.
Ipod in, music set, belt on with 2 water bottles. Drink my Chi3 Energy drink and yes I'm ready to go.
I walk outside. The fog is low, the magpies are greeting me with such sweet song, and that alone is worth getting up for. Today is not as cold as other mornings I have run.
It's uphill for a while, and this morning my friend Judy joins me for the first part, and about 1km later we part. Then I get into the zone with the music full-on to push me forward along the path.
As I move onto the gravel path, alongside the creek, the ducks are out and about. Eight of them are having an early morning gathering and it looks like they are discussing what they are going to do for the day.
As I run, I say good morning to the usual walkers/runners along this well-worn track.
Today I have given myself a good hill climb to test my robustness as that is what will be required for Boston. I manage to run all the way up and as I get to the top I run right into the fog.
With that comes a cold wind, full-on in my face. Not far from home now. I look forward to the shower as it will be such a welcome friend when the warm water runs all over my body.
Once home I finish with a few stretches and at 54 yrs old this is as important as the run.
Tomorrow is Boot Camp morning starting at 6am and already I am looking forward to that...

Stay tuned ...

What an exciting adventure talking to you out in the Universe !

I'm so excited about my dream, that I just had to write to you all again.
By the way, today is my rest day... with regard to my training.
So today I have been out for breakfast with a friend in the beautiful lush countryside of Gippsland in Victoria Australia.
Now I'm writing to you.
I'm already excited about my training run tomorrow which is 10km ..
I will write more about that tomorrow.

For now, I will explore how to do this blogging stuff better

Running My Dream to Boston

Today it is 24 weeks until I run the Boston Marathon in April 2010.
This is my very first blog, so let's hope I learn fast how to use it.
I was inspired to blog when I watched the movie, Julie & Julia.

When I was in my twenties I was watching an old black and white TV with my brother. He was watching the Boston Marathon and he told me what a great Marathon it was to run!
For years I wrote as one of my goals to "Run the Boston Marathon".
Finally in March 2008 ( at aged 53) I thought I had better shut up about this goal or get on and do it !!! When I was out shopping one day I came across a personal training studio so I went in & asked the woman if she thought I could run a Marathon. She said, "Do you have a pulse!" Of course, I said yes. Then she said, "Well then, you can run a Marathon".
So here I am a year or so on from that day. The woman, Michelle, wrote me a few running programs to get me well on my way to run in the Boston Marathon.

This blog is to tell you all about my progress to run my dream run to Boston stay tuned for more !!
